Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound, as well as her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes' track Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to collaborate in conjunction with Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. On the 21st of October in 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. Then, in November 2013, she dropped No One, and Pedigree. They then teamed up in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February 2019 for her debut album of the same title. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube in its first seven days. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK in December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
